Industry Update: Internet Gaming is Close to Becoming a Reality in the U.S.
- Nevada recently became the first U.S. state to establish regulations to govern online poker operations, and other states could soon follow.
- The U.S. Department of Justice recently clarified the scope of the Wire Act, which experts believe is an opening the for legalization of internet gambling in the near future.
- Several bills have been introduced to the U.S. Congress, with legislation prepared to license and regulate online poker holding the most promise.
- The global Internet gambling industry is poised to grow more than 50 percent in the next five years.
